This is the privacy policy for Takmila, an iOS app published by Yousef Masad ("we", "us"). It applies to the Takmila iPhone/iPad application and any Takmila widgets or app extensions distributed with it.
The short version: Takmila does not collect, transmit, or share any of your personal information. Everything Takmila needs to function lives on your device.
What Takmila does on your device
Location (Qibla & prayer times)
Takmila asks for When-In-Use location permission only when you open a feature that needs it.
Your coordinates are used on the device to compute the bearing to the Kaaba in Makkah and the daily five prayer times for your locality.
They are never transmitted to any server, including ours. We do not run a server.
Near Makkah, Takmila may request a one-time precise location upgrade (PreciseQibla) for an accurate bearing within the Haram.
Revoke any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Takmila.
Motion / compass (Qibla)
Takmila uses the device's magnetometer (compass) to point the Qibla indicator toward Makkah. Heading readings are processed by iOS and used only while the Qibla screen is visible. They are not stored or transmitted.
Family Controls / Screen Time (Boundaries)
If you choose to set Boundaries, Takmila uses Apple's Family Controls framework to apply a Screen Time shield to apps you select on your own device.
The selection, daily limit, and shield-active flag are stored in an App Group container on your device. It is not synced with iCloud by us and is not transmitted off-device.
The Family Controls tokens that represent your selected apps are opaque — Apple does not give us the bundle identifiers or names of the apps you blocked.
You can clear all Boundaries in Takmila, or revoke Family Controls in iOS Settings → Screen Time.
Apple Intelligence / on-device AI (Du'aa Companion)
The Du'aa Companion uses Apple's on-device language model (Foundation Models) on devices where Apple Intelligence is available.
Your prompt is processed entirely on your device. We do not see it. The text you type does not leave your device.
The model is constrained to selecting du'aas from a fixed catalogue that ships inside Takmila. It never authors Arabic text and never gives religious rulings.
On devices without Apple Intelligence, the screen shows a friendly fallback.
Notifications
Takmila may use local notifications (Apple's UNUserNotificationCenter) for prayer-time reminders. These are scheduled on your device, not delivered via a remote server. Turn off in iOS Settings → Notifications → Takmila.
What Takmila does NOT do
Takmila does not require an account. No sign-up, no login, no profile.
Takmila does not include any third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, or tracking SDKs.
Takmila does not collect device identifiers (IDFA, fingerprints, anything similar).
Takmila does not transmit your location, prayer history, app selections, du'aa prompts, or any other personal information.
We do not share, sell, or rent data we don't have.
Children
Takmila is rated 4+ and contains no objectionable content. Because Takmila does not collect personal information from anyone, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Because Takmila stores everything locally on your device and we do not receive your data, you can exercise the rights guaranteed by GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws by uninstalling the app or clearing its data in iOS Settings → General → iPhone Storage → Takmila. There is no off-device account for us to delete on your behalf. If your jurisdiction requires written confirmation, please write to us at the address below; we will reply.
Changes to this policy
If Takmila ever changes in a way that affects this policy, this page will be updated and the change will be noted in the release notes for that version.
